KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed flat against the US dollar today as it consolidated from the recent sell-off, said a dealer.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2790/2820 against the greenback from 3.2790/2810 on Monday.
A dealer said the local currency edged up a bit in a choppy market condition, but the overall direction was still determined by the greenback as it took a breather from the recent long rally.
Meanwhile, the local unit was traded lower against other major currencies, except for the euro.
The ringgit fell against the yen to 2.9929/9959 from Monday's 2.9902/9933, depreciated against the British pound to 5.3235/3293 from 5.3208/3247 and was lower against the Singapore dollar to 2.5730/5763 from 2.5691/5715 on Monday.
However, it gained against the euro to 4.1509/1557 from 4.1561/1590 yesterday.-- Bernama
