New drug smuggling method uncovered

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police uncovered a new drug packaging method being used by smugglers following the arrest of a Sarawakian drug trafficker here recently.

On Sunday, police seized 54 small bottles of green liquid from the Sarawakian.

State Narcotics Department chief Superintendent Abdul Rahim Dolmat said police were unfamiliar with the green liquid, but believed it to be a variation of ecstasy. It was the first such seizure in Malaysia.

"We have confirmed this with 1Malaysia Narcotic. I believe it is a stronger (form of) ecstasy and the liquid is ready to be consumed.

"We have submitted all drugs samples to the Chemistry Department to ascertain the type of drugs involved," he said at a press conference.

The green liquid was found along with 81 tea packets containing ecstasy powder, 350 ecstasy pills, 168 pink capsules containing ecstasy, 1,350 Erimin-5 pills, and a packet of syabu.

The drugs were confiscated in a condominium unit at Signal Hill near Tanjung Lipat.

He added the drugs which had a street value of RM71,000, were to be distributed at entertainment outlets here and in nearby districts.
