Smart collaboration

HILTON HHonorsTM, the loyalty programme for Hilton Worldwide’s 11 distinct hotel brands, recently announced a new partnership with AirAsia Big, another leading loyalty programme.

With this, members of both programmes will earn Big points and HHonors points when they stay at any of the more than 4,200 hotels and timeshare properties within the Hilton Worldwide Portfolio around the globe.

“The low-cost carrier sector, particularly in Asia, is experiencing strong growth driven by fast-growing economies and rising intra-regional travel,” said William Costley, Hilton Worldwide’s vice president of operations (Southeast Asia).

“We are the first global hospitality company to form a strategic alliance with a key regional carrier’s loyalty programme which rewards our members with twice the number of Big points.”

In this partnership, members of both programmes can earn 10 HHonors base points, plus two Big points for every US dollar spent during their stay at any property in the Hilton Portfolio. Stays at Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites are eligible to earn up to 200 Big points.

“It is a joy to collaborate with Hilton Worldwide to bring more rewards to our members,” said Alice Goh, chief executive officer of AirAsia Big.

Hilton HHonors is the only hotel loyalty guest programme offering points and miles for the same stay with no blackout dates or capacity controls at more than 4,200 hotels and timeshare properties worldwide.

AirAsia Big loyalty programme is the first and only loyalty programme for a low cost airline in Asia. Officially launched in November 2011 in Malaysia, it was followed by another launch in Indonesia a month later, Thailand in February 2012, Singapore in September last year, Philippines in May and India last month.

It has over 10 million members from 150 countries, from Asia to Australia and Europe. AirAsia Big points, collected by spending on AirAsia flights and at over 70 partners worldwide, are valid for three years. Points can be used to redeem free AirAsia flights with no blackout periods. Alternatively, flights can be redeemed by part Big points, part cash from as low as 100 Big points as well as AirAsia services such as baggage and hot seats. Points can also be used to redeem other Tune Group products such as hotels and Talk Time.

Members can enjoy four times Big points when they stay at any hotels and resorts worldwide within the Hilton portfolio, until Dec 31. While members can earn Big points on their stays, they cannot convert Hilton HHonors points to Big points.
