KUALA LUMPUR: MCIS Zurich Insurance Bhd is now known as MCIS Insurance Bhd, effective yesterday.
This follows the successful recent purchase by Sanlam Emerging Markets Proprietary Ltd (SEM) of a 40 per cent in MCIS Zurich Insurance Bhd, and the resultant exit of Zurich Asia Holdings Ltd as part of the broader transaction.
In a statement here today, MCIS Insurance said, as a pioneering insurer in Malaysia, it was poised to strengthen its market position in the future by enhancing its customers’ experience and accelerate product and service offerings.
SEM, part of the Sanlam Group which is a leading Financial Services Group based in South Africa and with a presence in 11 African countries as well as India, UK, US, Australia and Malaysia, completed the purchase of its 40 per cent interest from Koperasi MCIS Bhd on May 5 this year.
SEM will increase its interest to 51 per cent through the mandatory takeover offer to minority shareholders that is currently in progress, or through the purchase of further shares from Koperasi MCIS should the offer not yield sufficient minority acceptances.
Further to its legal entity name change taking effect from June 17, 2014, the company’s new website address is www.mcis.my which will serve as an information gateway for existing and potential customers. – Bernama
