GEORGE TOWN: It was a close call for a security guard at a shopping complex here when he accidentally discharged his firearm to the floor.
In the 9.30am incident, the 40-year-old man was preparing to be on guard at an outlet in mall in Persiaran Gurney.
Fortunately, no one was around at that time as most shops were not yet open and there were no one around.
However, he sustained injuries to his arm as the shrapnel from the marble flooring cut him.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the man has been detained for questioning under Section 39 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
