Talks on Islamic banking and finance

ALOR SETAR: Insaniah College University will be organising the “The Dialogue on the Future Dimension of Islamic Banking and Finance” at TH Hotel and Convention Centre on Saturday.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir is expected to officiate the two-day event.

The varsity rector Prof Datuk Mohd Yusof Kasim said the dialogue would focus on the future challenges of Islamic banking and finance ‘future journey’ in Malaysia.

“Islamic banking and finance ideals have been practised in the nation for more than 30 years. However, many of us still lack understanding of its concept and what the future holds for this system.

“As such, deeper discussion and better explanation on the basics of Islamic banking and finance such as Musharakah and Mudarabah concepts will be explained to the attendees,” said Yusof.

He also said the event would highlight matters on the need to have critical assessment on the Islamic financial system and the need for a revision on its practices globally.

Among the experts attending the talks are Islamic Banking and Takaful Bank Negara Malaysia director Wan Mohd Nazri Wan Osman, CIMB Islamic chief executive officer Badlisyah Abdul Ghani and Islamic Development Bank director Kunrat Wirasubrata. By Zahratulhayat Mat Arif
