CAPAM draws high-level crowd

PUTRAJAYA: The Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) biennial conference has received encouraging response from international participants.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the conference would see the attendance of over 200 high-level participants, including deputy prime ministers from Grenada and Namibia.

“Other high-level participants include 11 ministers with public service portfolios and five cabinet secretaries and chief secretaries, including the Palestinian cabinet secretary,” Ali said yesterday.

Themed “Public Service Transformation: A New Conversation”, the three-day conference will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, beginning on Sunday.

It was expected to draw some 1,000 international participants and would coincide with the 20th anniversary of CAPAM, a non-profit organisation made up of 1,100 senior public servants, heads of government, leading academics and researchers from over 50 Commonwealth nations.

“Over 60 papers will be presented at the conference by distinguished speakers from Commonwealth countries and international organisations,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to open the conference.
