Rain fails to dampen high spirits at Bursa charity run

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite a downpour, Bursa Malaysia Bhd successfully carried out its inaugural Bursa Bull Charge Charity Run on Tuesday, with the organisers and 1,300 runners displaying high spirits and goodwill throughout the event.

The charity run, which took participants through the city’s central business district popularly known as Golden Triangle, had 33 chief executive officers (CEOs), 104 C-Suite office bearers, and young corporate members from public-listed companies, brokerages, investment banks, ministries, regulators, and media charging through a 5km route that Bursa Malaysia described as Kuala Lumpur’s capital market trail.

“Bursa Bull Charge extends beyond just raising money for charity. It is another effort by Bursa Malaysia to drive capital market collaboration with the aim to raise the bar on sustainability and inclusiveness among the people,” said Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Tajuddin Atan.

“I am heartened by the strong support from our sponsors, leadership from the industry and all other runners from across all segments of the industry.

“We have put in a lot of efforts to make this an enjoyable and rewarding event for everyone and we intend to make it the key capital market event that all Malaysians can look forward to participating and getting involved in,” said Tajuddin, who took part in the 1.5km CEO’s Run segment.

Funds raised will be handed over to eight organisations — Sekolah Latihan Wanita Ipoh, Persatuan Rumah Amal Sabah (formerly Sabah Cheshire Home), My Performing Arts Agency, CADS Enhancement Centre, Kelab Belia Kalsom, Women International Network, Borneo Eco Film Festival and Persatuan Kebajikan An-Najjah Malaysia.
