PFS, USM in tie-up to boost academic standards

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Free School (PFS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Universiti Sains Malaysia to hone English and leadership skills among the former’s students.

The MoU is aimed at formalising the venture between the school and USM to foster academic and curriculum excellence in students.

The ceremony was carried out at PFS’s main hall between PFS principal Jalil Saad and USM Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Omar Osman on Tuesday.

Jalil said the tie-up was a step in the right direction for PFS students to tap the rich academic resources of USM.

“We have mapped out a collaboration plan and the school committee members will hold discussions with USM to finalise the details,” Jalil said after the ceremony.

Omar said the tie-up would pave the way for PFS students to learn from USM.

“Selected PFS students will attend classes at our schools to sharpen their English proficiency and improve leadership capabilities,” Omar said, adding that the MoU covered three years.
