Homedec 2014 plans to rake in sales of RM150m

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Decor and Design Exhibition (Homedec) aims to rake in RM150 million in sales over the two-part exhibition, which is expected to draw over 150,000 visitors.

C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd president Datuk Vincent Lim the organiser of Homedec 2014 said the targeted sales is higher than last year’s RM140 million sales.

“We expect a six per cent increase in visitors for the coming two weekends. Homeowners spend about 30 per cent of their renovation budget on bathroom and kitchen products,” he said at the official launch of the Homedec 2014.

In Kuala Lumpur, Homedec 2014 will be held in parts, where Part One started yesterday until Sunday, themed “Design & Renovate”, focusing on permanent feature, and Part Two will be held from October 30 to November 2, themed “Furnish & Decorate”, focusing on furnishing and loose items.

Lim said the number of exhibition booths has also risen from 1,560 booths last year to 1,600 booths.

He said Homedec focuses on the after-sales services as the sales target is expected to come from local consumers.

Lim said the home decor and renovation market is still vibrant due to high demand.

“Homedec has been organised for a decade now, and we foresee the industry to improve a lot.

It’s a multi-billion industry in Malaysia, and that is only on the newly completed properties, not including home refurbishment, sub-sales and second hand property,” Lim said.
