KUANTAN: Around 1,000 people joined a special prayers held at Tanjung Api Mosque in conjunction with the Sultan Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah's 84th birthday today.
The programme was also held to usher in the Muslim's new year, Awal Muharram.
The ceremony began with Yasin recital led by the Mufti of Pahang Datuk Abdul Rahman Osman before they performed the Maghrib prayers.
Sultan Ahmad Shah later cut a "pulut kuning" cake.
Also present were Sultanah of Pahang Sultanah Kalsom, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah, Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
