KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tonight joined a congregation of over 4,000 in reciting the Yasin and doa selamat at the National Mosque here to usher in Maal Hijrah 1436H.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
The ceremony began with the reciting of the 1435H year-end doa followed by the doa for 1436H and then Maghrib prayers, reciting of the Yasin, tahlil and doa selamat, and Isyak prayers.
Earlier, the congregation listened to a 45-minute religious forum titled, “Unity the Pulse of National Transformation” which was also carried live by RTM.
The penallists were Federal Territories mufti Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia lecturer, Norhafizah Musa. The national-level Maal Hijrah celebration will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre tomorrow. – BERNAMA
