Tasty Travel Series boosting KFC sales

KUALA LUMPUR: KFC Malaysia expects a 15 per cent sales contribution from its newest Tasty Travel Series.

KFC senior vice-president Ling Mee Jiuan said the target was based on similar sales contributions recorded by the previous Tasty Travel Series.

“We managed to gain 15 per cent sales contribution each from the previous destination series, the KFC Bangkok Green Curry and the KFC Tokyo Black Pepper Mushroom. We hope to continue to achieve the target,” Ling said yesterday.

Inspired by the city of Mumbai’s unique culture and taste, the latest Tasty Travel Series features the Bombay Fiery Crunch and the Bombay Fiery Crunch Burger, which are targeted at teens and young adults.

The promotion starts tomorrow, with starting prices of RM 7.95 for the burger and RM9.95 for the combo meals.

Ling said there will be a total of 90 KFC outlets with delivery services by year-end. Currently, 75 outlets provide delivery services.

She said KFC’s first “green” restaurant is in Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

“The restaurant opened its doors on October 3. We will officially launch it before the year end. Customer reception has been great and we are creating awareness on the products and the outlet.”

Ling, however, said there are no immediate plans to expand the “green” restaurant chain.

Being the first KFC “green” in Southeast Asia, the restaurant is similar to other KFC outlets but more environmentally-friendly and uses different materials.
