SUNGAI PETANI: A 48-year-old teacher was found drowned in Sungai Pantai Chicar, Kuala Ketil here today.
Her body was found floated near the Sungai Muda Bridge in Jalan Kuala Ketil, about 1.5km away from where she was last spotted, at 4.07pm.
It was believed that the teacher, identified as Siti Hajar Abu Bakar, had slipped and fell into the river after she was reported missing from her home at about 5.50am yesterday.
It was learnt that the teacher’s husband went to search for the victim after he noticed she was missing and only discovered his wife’s car as well as her shoes near the bridge about 9am today.
A spokesperson from Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Department said the body of the victim was fished out by the rescuers before being handed over to police.
