CEO Wasim Saifi leaving Standard Chartered Saadiq

KUALA LUMPUR: Standard Chartered Saadiq Bhd’s chief executive officer (CEO) Wasim Saifi is leaving the bank after three years of service to pursue personal interests.

In a statement yesterday, Standard Chartered Saadiq said it was confident the bank would remain strongly competitive in Malaysia despite the changes in senior leadership.

“We are thankful to Wasim for his contributions during his three-year tenure as chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Saadiq.

“He was instrumental in expanding Standard Chartered Saadiq’s Islamic finance product offerings and customer portfolio in the country” said Standard Chartered Bank Malaysiamanaging director and chief executive officer Osman Morad in a statement.

An interim officer-in-charge has been appointed to ensure smooth Standard Chartered Saadiq’s operations.

The bank will be naming a successor in due course once necessary regulatory approvals have been secured.
