KUALA KANGSAR: The 159th sitting of the Dewan Negara Perak, which met yesterday at the Istana Iskandariah here, has decided to appoint Raja Datuk Seri Jaafar Raja Muda Musa as the new Raja Muda of Perak.
Raja Jaafar, 73, was the Raja DiHilir before his latest appointment and his official salutation is Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Muda Perak.
His previous position will be filled in by Raja Datuk Seri Iskandar Dzulkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A'fifullah Shah, 57, who was the Raja Kechil Besar.
His official salutation is Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja DiHilir Perak.
The Dewan Negara Perak, which was chaired by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, also decided to appoint Sultan Nazrin's six-year-old son Raja Azlan Muzzafar Shah as the Raja Kechil Besar, making him third in line to the throne.
In a statement issued by Dewan Negara Perak secretary Datuk Ayop Hashim, it said the Ruler's Council decided to bestow the title of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Permaisuri Perak on Tuanku Zara Salim, the wife of Sultan Nazrin.
Tuanku Bainun, the former Raja Permaisuri of Perak, has been bestowed with the title Yang Maha Mulia Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Bainun.
All appointments took immediate effect yesterday (June 20).
The Dewan Negara Perak also decided that beginning next year Perak would observe Sultan of Perak's birthday on Nov 27.
