Weekend watch: Romance in a padi field

A-LIST actors Remy Ishak and Maya Karin team up for a hilarious rom-com set in the rice fields of Kedah this Sunday.

Their most notable on-screen collaboration, Cun is screened on TV3 at 12.30am on Sunday.

Maya plays Luna, a popular television personality, who takes a holiday in a village in Kedah, partly to escape from her overbearing and playboyish fiance Ryan (Jehan Miskin).

There, she falls in love with village hunk Atan (Remy) while her producer (Ning Baizura) attempts to track her down. The film also stars Nadiya Nisaa and Marsha Milan Londoh.

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts plays a free-thinking art lecturer in Mona Lisa Smile at 2pm on TV2 tomorrow. She challenges her meek students to question their traditional social roles and become women of substance. Also starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Marcia Gay Harden, Kirsten Dunst and Julia Stiles.

On Sunday, tune in to TV1 at 2pm for the live segment of the Asian Road Race Championship 2014 in Buriram, Thailand.

For comedy fans, Liga Lawak Superstar’s finals is broadcast live at 9pm on TV3 on Sunday. Two trios of star comedians battle it out for the grand prize of RM200,000. The show is co-hosted by Afdlin Shauki and Adibah Noor.

For food lovers, Good Man Good Food comes on at 6pm over ntv7 tomorrow. In each episode of this new culinary series, presented by celebrity chefs, viewers get to meet masterchefs in China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia, and learn about specialties of the respective countries.
