Khazanah open to proposals for MAS restructuring

PORT KLANG: Khazanah Nasional Bhd is open to receive proposals and ideas from various quarters for the restructuring of Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS).

Khazanah deputy chairman Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the company was prepared to listen and weigh the ideas or proposals so that the restructuring process could proceed smoothly and successfully to enable MAS to get back to become the national airline that is the pride of the rakyat.

Besides being a symbol of national pride, he said Khazanah also wanted to turn around MAS to profitability as well as enabling it to provide huge benefits in the nation's tourism and trade sectors.

"We are confident that with the full cooperation of all parties involved, the objectives would be achieved," he told a press conference at the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Kolej WIT Sdn Bhd and Antah Schindler Sdn Bhd, here today.

Kolej WIT was represented by its chairman, Tan Sri Zainal Rampak while Antah Schindler was represented by its chief director (operations), Lee Wei Jye.

Under the MoU, Kolej WIT and Antah Schindler, a leading lift and escalator company, will collaborate in apprentice and industrial training programme.

Zainal said for the first intake, some 65 students had been selected for the six-month programme.

"Students who successfully completed the programme would be absorbed as employees of Antah Schindler," he said.-- Bernama
