Redza to helm MDec?

NORTHERN Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq is tipped to be new chief executive officer of the Multimedia Development Corp (MDec).

Sources said Redza will assume the position, vacated by Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, next month.

Badlisham, meanwhile, assumes his new role as Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) managing director today.

The 45 year-old Redza has been helming the NCIA since 2010.

The authority is responsible for the strategic socio-economic development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region, a government initiative to accelerate economic growth of Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.

Redza was appointed managing director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd in 2006.

He was instrumental in creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises at Cyberjaya.

Graduated from The University of Hull, the United Kingdom, Redza started his career at the Renong group. His impending move to MDec is expected to serve as a homecoming of sorts.

Prior to his secondment to Cyberview, Redza worked at MDec where his primary roles were to ensure the financial sustainability of MDec, anchored on performance-based measures during the Eighth Malaysia Plan. He could not be reached for comment.

Meanwhile, in welcoming Badlisham, MAHB said he is a perfect fit to the role.

“His most recent achievement as CEO of MDec, in increasing the revenue and investments of MSC Malaysia to nearly RM35 billion, stands as a testament to his track record in promoting innovation.”

“Datuk Badlisham is a great proponent of the service culture; coupled with his previous stint in a multi-national corporation, the management is confident that his extensive experience in this area will stand the company in good stead in fulfilling its new mission to create joyful experiences by connecting people and businesses,” it said.
