Beauty contest goes traditional

IPOH: EIGHTEEN beauties will vie for the title of Miss Kebaya, Miss Saree and Miss Cheongsam on Dec 5.

The charity beauty pageant will be held at Kinta Riverfront Hotel, here, at 7.30pm.

It is organised by State Kinta Cultural and Tourism Association in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

Event organising chairman K. Baskaran said contestants were allowed to choose to parade in either a kebaya, saree or cheongsam, for the first time in a beauty pageant.

“The event aims to raise RM10,000 for the National Autism Society of Malaysia (Ipoh) through ticket sales and donations.

“The winner will receive RM500, a trophy, crown and sponsored gifts,” said Baskaran.

Subsidiary titles such as Miss Charity and Miss Popularity are also up for grabs.

Tickets are priced at RM80 and RM100 each. For details, call 019-511 9494.
