KL shares higher mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was higher at mid-afternoon today, lifted by buying in selected blue-chips and key heavyweights.

At 3.02pm, the key index stood at 1,828.36, up 19.23 points from last week's close of 1,809.13.

KLK topped the gainers' list, up 54 sen to RM22.72 with 921,000 lots traded.

On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index rose 67.59 points to 8,262.96, Finance Index was up by 60.25 points to 16,253.22 and the Industrial Index gained 25.15 points to 3,298.20.

The FBM Emas Index went up 123.23 points to 12,601.16, FBM Emas Shariah Index garnered 179.96 points to 13,165.10, FBMT100 Index expanded 121.00 points to 12,275.47, the FBM Ace added 47.84 points to 6,600.17 and FBM 70 perked 102.78 points to 13,626.49.

Turnover stood at 1.4 billion shares worth RM976.59 million.

Of the heavyweights, TNB rose 44 sen to RM14.38, Public Bank was flat at RM18.30, Axiata inched up nine sen to RM7.19 and Sime Darby increased six sen to RM9.71.

Maybank eased two sen to RM9.50.

Among actives, Privasia Technology gained two sen to 20 sen while JAG was flat at 22.5 sen.-- Bernama
