Might, MBIC to expand biomass pallet industry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (Might) teamed up with Malaysia Biomass Industries Confederation (MBIC) to organise the first stakeholders’ engagement session, towards expanding the local biomass pallet industry.

In a statement here today, Might said the session, held on Nov 21, was for the Might Interest Group for Biomass, which involved more than 20 key Biomass Pallet industry players.

"The main objective of the session was to explore the potential in diversifying the feedstock beyond wood waste and Empty Fruit Bunches, to include Oil Palm Trunks.

"Participants discussed at length the challenges faced by the industry in developing competitiveness as a global player, particularly in complying with the international standard for solid biofuel," it added.

Might, a non-profit company limited by guarantee under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department, plays a key role in developing Malaysia’s high technology for business through its role as a think-tank, private-public consensus building and business nurturing platforms.-- Bernama
