KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Puteri will undergo a revamp, starting with the slashing of eight of its 23 bureaus.
Its chief, Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, said this was to improve the wing’s structure and to boost its strength.
“It will help the wing attract young voters in the next general election.
“I will reveal the list of bureaus that will be terminated at our convention tomorrow (today).”
Mas Ermieyati said the most important agenda of the Puteri convention would be the preparations to face the 14th General Election.
“It is crucial for us to ensure
the party remains relevant to the people, especially the younger generation.”
She said Puteri hoped to attract 500,000 members by 2018. Puteri has 375,356 members now.
Mas Ermieyati said it was not impossible as the wing appealed to the young and had an integrated framework to achieve its target.
She urged Puteri members to be more aggressive in promoting the wing and attracting members.
“What is important is that we focus on ways to attract more members and carry out more programmes.”
