KL shares opens slightly higher

KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened slightly higher in early trade today supported by some buying demand in selected blue-chips.

At 9.03am, the barometer index stood at 1,839.22, up 0.66 points, after opening 1.3 points higher at 1,840.52.

The FBM Emas Index gained 2.45 points to 12,665.14, FBMT100 Index rose 3.23 points to 12,341.79 but FBM Ace eased 0.03 points to 6,533.88, the FBM 70 slipped 1.07 points to 13,674.58 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index was down 19.05 points at 13,239.27.

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index increased 2.12 points to 8,360.60, the Industrial Index was 8.60 points higher at 3,342.94 and the Finance Index up 19.09 points at 16,331.04.

There were 115 gainers and 95 losers with 122 counters unchanged, 1,370 untraded and 26 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 91.65 million shares worth RM31.87 million. Among heavyweights, IHH Healthcare added five sen to RM4.99 while both KLCC Prop&REITS and PPB were flat at RM6.74 and RM15.50, respectively.

Among actives, Malayan United gained 3.5 sen to 26.5 sen, Jadi Imaging rose one sen to 4.5 sen while MInetech was flat at 14.5 sen.-- Bernama
