KLTM slips to US$20,000

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) closed US$200 lower at US$20,000 a tonne yesterday, in tandem with the metal’s lower price on the London Metal Exchange (LME), said a dealer.

He said the tin price on the LME eased by US$200 to US$20,200 a tonne.

“Today’s price was mainly supported by scattered buying from Japanese and European traders,” he added.

At the opening, sellers offered 137 tonnes while buyers bid for 36 tonnes, with demand also coming from local traders.

Turnover rose to 61 tonnes from 58 tonnes on Tuesday.

The price differential between the KLTM and LME remained at a premium of US$155 a tonne. Bernama
