Disability not a hindrance for top scorer

KULIM: She was born without the right arm while her left arm was deformed with only three fingers.

However, sheer determination and support from the people around her helped Nur Fatihah Abdul Rahim beat the odds by scoring 5As in her Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).

The youngest of three children to factory production operator Abdul Rahim Osman, 49, and housewife Noraini Ismail, 44, was all smiles as she proved that her disability was not a hindrance in striving for success.

The SK Pagar Museh pupil said she was grateful that all her prayers to score straight As in the examination were answered.

“I must thank my parents, teachers and my schoolmates who had been very helpful.

“I was bit nervous as I worried that I did not do well for the Mathematics, Science and English papers, but I am very happy that I have scored straight As in all five subjects,” said Fatihah, who wished to become a renowned fashion designer.

She said her biggest motivation was to improve her family’s livelihood and the only way to do that was by excelling in education.
