Weekend watch: Defender of the downtrodden

THE romantic swashbuckler Zorro gallops into the small screen tonight at 10.03pm on TV2 in the hit film The Mask Of Zorro.

Starring Antonio Banderas as the heroic crusader, the movie also stars Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta Jones. It is about a young thief seeking revenge for his brother’s death. Trained by an ageing masked warrior who fights for the downtrodden, he gradually slips into his mentor’s shoes.

Classic disaster movie Beyond The Poseidon Adventure follows on TV2 at midnight on Sunday, where a cruise ship drifts bottom-up in the sea. While the passengers are waiting to be rescued, two rival salvage parties board the ship in search of money, gold and a small amount of plutonium, hampering rescue efforts.

Back home, the semi-finals of pre-teen singing contest Bintang Kecil’s Sarawak leg is telecast live on TV1 at 8.45pm tomorrow.
