Ringgit ends higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar today on fresh buying interest for the local unit.

At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2125/2145 against the US dollar from 3.2180/2210 on Monday.

A dealer said the ringgit also moved in tandem with the bullish performance on Bursa Malaysia today.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI breached a new high of 1,891.12 at 4.39pm, surpassing the previous high of 1,889.47 recorded on May 19.

Meanwhile, the ringgit was also traded mostly higher against other major currencies.

The ringgit appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5729/5749 from Monday's 2.5750/5785 and rose against the yen at 3.1514/1536 from 3.1592/1631 yesterday.

The local unit increased against the British pound to 5.4548/4595 from 5.4774/4834 yesterday.

The ringgit, however, fell against the euro to 4.3761/3791 from 4.3704/3751.-- Bernama
