Tekun Nasional joins IDB finance body

JEDDAH: Tekun Nasional has been accepted as a member of the Association of National Development Finance Institutions of the IDB Member Countries (ADFIMI).

ADFIMI chairman Mehmet Emin Ozcan announced the acceptance of Tekun and five other new members --Tadamon Islamic Bank, Jordan Islamic Bank, the Kazakhstan Fund for Financial Support of Agriculture JSC, Al Shamal Islamic Bank in Sudan, and Bangladesh Development Bank -- at ADFIMI's 30th General Assembly here yesterday.

The assembly, convened prior to the 39th Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), decided to reduce membership fees for least developed member countries and discussed events to be held this year, including in Kuala Lumpur which is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Tekun, an agency under Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry, provides loan facilities to Bumiputera entrepreneurs to start or enhance their businesses.-- Bernama
