PM Najib: Malaysians must commit to succeed

SEOUL: Malaysians must possess a resolute commitment to succeed, keen survival instincts, deep focus and the will to overcome the odds in pushing Malaysia to greater heights.

In his speech at a dinner event hosted for Malaysians, including around 150 students here, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said discipline was also key to success.

Calling on Malaysians to emulate the achievements of the South Koreans, Najib, who arrived here at 5pm as part of his four-day official visit, said these features would help Malaysians to play key roles in the government's transformation programmes.

These, he said, should also be complemented by having the Malaysian jati diri spirit (sense of belonging).

"This is the spirit that will drive us forward," said Najib, who was greeted by a round of applause by the students when he emphasised on the need to be proud as Malaysians.

The prime minister was also greeted by a resounding "yes" when he asked the students if they were proud to be Malaysians.

Other than bilateral and trade talks in Seoul, Najib will also be in Busan to attend the 25th Asean-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit where he will deliver a keynote address at the closing ceremony on Thursday.

His visit will end Friday.
