Kunak fish breeder rescued from abductors

KOTA KINABALU: Perak born Chan Sai Chuin, who was kidnapped by Filipino gunmen in June, has been rescued from his captors this morning.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the rescue but did not elaborate.

A security forces senior officer said Chan was sent for a medical check-up in Sandakan.

Chan, 32, was abducted from his fish farm at Kampung Air Sapang, Kunak on June 16 and was taken to the Southern Philippines.

The kidnappers since had asked for RM3 million ransom money to secure Chan’s release after it was reduced from RM10 million.

His wife Chin Pek Nyuen, when contacted, however denied it, adding she was still waiting for an update from the authorities.
