Christmas BBQ feast

PORT DICKSON: The Grand Lexis Hotel, here, has lined up a gastronomical experience for its Semi BBQ Christmas Buffet at its Duyung Restaurant to usher in Christmas.

The theme this year is Modern Heritage Christmas and the hotel promises guests a lavish experience as its culinary team, led by chef Aidil Muhamad Muhader, boasts a selection of Western, Asian and local cuisine.

Meticulously crafted by creative chefs, highlights of the buffet include a Christmas Roast organic turkey with apple and mixed nuts stuffing, traditional beef Wellington with wild mushroom, and marinated grilled lamb ribs with whole grain mustard. There will also be seafood terrine, liver pate and a choice of pastas served with tomato sauce and cream sauce.

Aidil said this is the first time the buffet would use organic turkey, which was tender and exceptionally juicy.

“It has a wonderful flavour compared with commercial turkeys,” he said during a preview of the buffet at the hotel, here, recently.

Aidil said to prepare the dish the turkey was brined for 12 hours with chicken stock, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, fresh sage, fresh thyme, Cajun spice, lemon zest, orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cranberry and juniper berries and then slowly roasted to perfection for two hours.

“This makes the meat succulent and juicy,” he said.

For local delights, highlights include chicken and beef satay, accompanied by condiments such as nasi impit, cucumber, onion cube and peanut sauce, grilled chicken Percik, lamb kebab, grilled mackerel and an assortment of grilled sausages.

Aidil said the buffet offered delightful desserts at its stall which included homemade panettone, Christmas pudding, chocolate flan, mango pancake, apple pie and fruit tartlets, waffle with assorted filings, bread and butter pudding, assorted chocolate fondue, Christmas cookies and cupcakes.

Aidil said the buffet was available from 6.30pm to 9.30pm from Dec 24 to 25. The restaurant can seat 120 people indoors and 100 outdoors.

The buffet is priced at RM78nett for adults and RM35nett for children aged 4 to 12.
