TOKYO: Tokyo stocks were flat by the break today, giving up early gains as investors retreated to the sidelines in thin holiday trade.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 0.26 points to 17,621.66 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.05 percent, or 0.70 points, at 1,410.31.--AFP
