Rubber market closes higher

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian rubber market closed higher yesterday amid the weakening ringgit, a dealer said.

He said the market rebounded following the uptrend in regional markets on gains in the crude oil prices which were helped by profit-taking.

The Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 increased 1.5 sen to 508.5 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk rose three sen to 361 sen a kg.

The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 gained four sen to 509 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk added 5.5 sen to 363.5 sen a kg. Bernama
