Non-stop action for Christmas

From movies and variety programmes to award shows, Bibi Nurshuhada Ramli selects the best on terrestrial TV this festive season

FOR the festive season, terrestrial TV stations will offer a selection of Christmas specials, from movies and variety programmes to award shows.

Part of TV9’s line-up is action-packed flick Spy Kids, starring Alexa PenaVega, Carla Gugino, Daryl Sabara and Antonio Banderas. It airs tonight at 8.32pm.

Two top secret agents, Gregorio and Ingrid, who gave up their careers to raise a family, are called back into action. When things get tough, their children are the only ones who can rescue them.

Viewers can look forward to other interesting TV shows this Christmas.

The 8TV Quickie: 12 Deeds Of Christmas #quickiegenie (8TV, 9.30pm)

This year’s Quickie Christmas special presents exciting content in a gameshow format. 8TV Quickie will also make contributions in the form of prizes to charity homes.

Criss Angel Mindfreak Season 3 Special (ntv7, 8.30pm)

Criss will attempt to float more than 150m above the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. He will also levitate down the largest atrium in the world.

Spy Kids 2: Island Of Lost Dreams (TV9, 8.32pm)

The Cortez siblings set out for a mysterious island where they encounter a genetic scientist and rival spy kids.

MTV Video Music Awards 2014 (8TV, 10.30pm)

This celebrates the best in music videos this year. Catch performances by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.

I Corrupt All Cops (ntv7, 11pm)

Folk pop duo Joy Williams and John Paul White perform popular tracks from the band’s certified Gold album, Barton Hollow.

Mickey Twice Upon A Christmas (TV2, 9.30am)

In this computer-animated holiday special, Mickey and his friends are featured in five mini films: Belles On Ice, Christmas: Impossible, Christmas Maximus, Donald’s Gift and Mickey’s Dog-Gone Christmas.

Barbie: A Perfect Christmas (TV3, 10am)

Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (TV2, 11.30am)

When Sid accidentally destroys Manny’s heirloom Christmas rock and ends up on Santa’s naughty list, he leads a hilarious quest to the North Pole to make things right and ends up making things much worse. Robbie Williams: Take The Crown (TV1, 3.30pm)

This concert was recorded last year when Williams went on his first solo stadium tour in seven years. This thrilling two-hour show that was part of his Take The Crown tour includes his biggest solo hits such as Bodies, Millennium, Let Me Entertain You and Angels.

The Lost Bladesman (8TV, 5pm)

The tale of Guan Yu who played a major role in the civil war that led to the collapse of Han Dynasty. Starring Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang and Betty Sun.
