Helicopters help relocate stranded patients

IPOH: The Royal Malaysian Air Force utilised its Nuri helicopters to evacuate 16 patients from Pulau Perhentian in Terengganu and Kuala Krai Hospital in Kelantan earlier today.

A RMAF spokesman said a team of five military medical personnel from the 8 Brigade Camp in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan were picked up by a Nuri helicopter, which then flew them to the Kuala Krai Hospital which was affected by the worsening flood there.

"The medical personnel then loaded 15 patients from the hospital. The patients were then flown to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian (Kelantan)."

In another mission, three military medical personnel were flown by a Nuri to the island, where they picked up a patient.

The patient was also sent to the USM Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman said RMAF had been mobilising its Nuri helicopters for medevac missions, while Eurocopter EC 725 are used to deliver supply for flood victims.
