Floods: MCA Youth sends aid

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA Youth will collaborate with 15 youth organisations in aid of the flood victims in the east coast, forcing over 130,000 people to evacuate their homes.

MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon said party members and volunteers would focus on relief efforts after the flooding subsides, especially in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

"We have received a lot of requests for us to help, but we also know that it is very hard for us to reach areas where the floods hit hard. The party is trying its level best to reach out to the affected families.

"While we continue to collect donations and items for the displaced families in relief centres, our main focus will be on helping them once they are allowed to return home," he told reporters at the party headquarters today.

The party had two 3-tonne lorries filled with dry food and boxes of mineral water, Chong said. The items will be sent once the roads are passable.

Chong also said those interested to volunteer could register on their website: www.youthcaremalaysia.blogspot.com.
