Some areas recover, evacuees increase to 201,299

KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Jeli, Kelantan, has fully recovered, but the number of flood evacuees recorded in other districts in the state remained the highest among other flood-hit states in the country.

In KELANTAN, 124,966 people from 30,131 are still taking shelter at 306 relief centres statewide this afternoon compared to 111,376 people from 27,455 families recorded earlier.

Kota Baharu still has the most number of evacuees with 42,469 people, followed by Pasir Mas (23,568), Kuala Krai (23,169), Tumpat (21,396), Gua Musang (7,529), Tanah Merah (3,546), Machang (3,097) and Pasir Puteh (192).

In TERENGGANU, the number of flood victims recorded a slight increase to 36,410 people from 36,158 recorded earlier.

According to the Terengganu National Secutity Council’s portal, Kemaman still had 24,497 flood evacuees, followed by Dungun (10,938), Kuala Terengganu (770) and Hulu Terengganu (205).

Pahang recorded a slight drop in the number of flood victims with 31,877 from 8,039 families remain at relief centres in seven districts compared to 33,601 in the morning.

In JOHOR, 465 people from 117 families were left at relief centres in five districts this afternoon.

According to the State Disaster Operation Command Centre, 10 relief centres in the state were still in operation, including the one which was recently opened in Mukim Rimba Terjun in Pontian.

In PERAK, the number of people evacuated due to floods in Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Central Perak and Kerian dropped slightly to 7,581 this afternoon from 7,587 recorded earlier, – BERNAMA
