Child models strut their way to victory

GEORGE TOWN: Back with a bigger and classier act, Queensbay Mall Mini Model Search reached its grand finals recently. The competition heated up with kids doing their best to upstage each other to win the coveted titles and prizes worth more than RM12,000.

After three rounds of exciting heats, Roger Tan, 7, took the Best Mini Model (Boy) title and Annabelle Tan, 6, charmed her way to the Best Mini Model (Girl) individual titles, both receiving RM1,000 worth of prizes.

Showing poise, elegance and confidence beyond their tender years, the two winners wowed the judges and the large crowd of shoppers.

The event was held at the gaily decorated main atrium. Each child was accompanied by an adult model.

With the year-end holiday mood in full swing and Queensbay Mall’s 1Malaysia Year End Sale in full throttle, the Mini Model Search gave parents the opportunity to dress up their children in flamboyant dresses, smart shirts and accessories to impress the three judges, Pauline Harwood, Evanezal Khoo and Ivan Choo.

Open to boys and girls aged 5 to 12, the competition focused on the children’s flair, attire and charm.

“To add fun to this year’s contest, the first 200 to register for the photogenic casting were rewarded with a free slice of crepe from Humble Beginnings, while entry participation only required a single receipt of RM50 from any kids fashion outlet in QB.

“Shoppers who spent RM100 and above at any outlet also had a chance to register their children for the audition,” said QB marketing communications manager Christopher Koh.

Participants needed to try their luck at the audition by dressing up on the theme of the day.

“We added a twist to the Mini Model Search this year with a fun Ladies and Gentlemen Workshop, while children had a great time learning hands-on basic etiquette and skills,” said Koh.

With the Yuletide spirit in the air, the mall’s main atrium was decorated with all the trappings of a white Christmas a la Swiss.

The winners of subsidiary titles were:

l Best Runway Mini Model (Girl): Belinda Yau Xin Yee, 8.

l Best Runway Mini Model (Boy): Muhammad Harith Daniel, 9.

l Best Portrait Mini Model (Boy): Adam Erdanish, 6.

l Best Portrait Mini Model (Girl): Tan Zhi Xin.

These subsidiary title winners won RM500 worth of prizes each.

All the 40 finalists were also rewarded with RM200 worth of prizes each.
