Moving messages at Changi Airport

THERE were touching scenes at Changi Airport Terminal 2 as people started penning messages expressing their grief over the loss of Indonesia AirAsia Flight QZ8501.

They wrote on colour paper and stuck the messages on a board placed outside the holding area at Level 3.

In a related development, checks showed that there were no AirAsia flights arriving here from Surabaya yesterday, as the sector only operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, Indonesia AirAsia will maintain the flight code of its Surabaya-Singapore sector for the time being.

Checks on the AirAsia website showed that flight code QZ8501 for the sector at 5.20am on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday was still maintained.

On Monday, the flight information panel at the Changi Airport Terminal 1 also saw the use of the same code for the flight.

Checks by the New Straits Times at Changi Airport Terminal 1, where AirAsia is operating, showed that all check-in counters were operating as usual.

An AirAsia staff said all Singapore-Surabaya flight sectors at 2.10pm every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday remained unchanged.
