Indonesia AirAsia flight stranded due to faulty engine

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesia AirAsia flight scheduled to fly from Surabaya to Bandung was stranded at the Juanda Airport runaway last night due to faulty engine during takeoff.

The incident created panic among 120 passengers, reported Indonesia-based Metrotvnews.com.

The newsportal quoted a passenger, Joseph Fitriadi, as saying that he heard a loud sound moments before the engines of the aircraft died.

"We were shocked and panicking. I was terrified. The plane eventually retreated to the original position. We were ordered to disembark immediately,” said Joseph.

The plane was scheduled to depart at 9pm.

It is learnt that the aircraft technicians managed to repair the damage but almost all the passengers decided not to continue their journey.

It is learnt that the airline refunded the airfare to passengers who chose not to continue their journey.

On Dec 28, an Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501 plunged into the Java Sea while en route from Surabaya to Singapore with 162 people on board.
