Floods: Homeless victims should be prioritised: Mercy

KUALA LUMPUR: Flood victims left homeless after the massive disaster should be given priority to obtain after flood assistance.

Malaysia Medical Relief Society (Mercy) regional director Norazam Abu Samah said this group should be given priority as they badly needed help to go on with their life.

“Among the items urgently needed for this group now are clothes, cooking stoves, cookeries, kettles, pans, mattresses, mats, lamps and water containers,” he told Bernama here.

He said the homeless needed a head start to restart life with virtually nothing and not a one-off helping hand.

“In fact this group required help over a far longer period of time to ensure they could resume their livelihood,” he said. --BERNAMA
