KUCHING: Former Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub died at 9.40pm on his hospital bed in Normah Specialist Medical Center today.
The 88 year old, who held office as the fourth head of state between April 2, 1981 and April 2, 1985.
Born in Kampung Jepak in Bintulu on January 3, 1928, Rahman is also the uncle of the current head of state Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud.
He also served as the third Chief Minister between July 7, 1970 and March 26, 1981.
