Zizan and ex personal assistant fail to settle suits

KUALA LUMPUR: The legal actions filed by a former personal assistant of Malaysian comedian and actor Zizan Razak will go to trial.

The parties failed to reach a compromise in mediation today to settle the cases out of court.

On Sept 30 last year, Marina Juki, 31, sued Maybank Islamic Berhad, Zizan, whose real name is Mohd Razizan Ab Razak, 31, and Wire Fame Entertainment Sdn Bhd for their part in freezing the company (Wire Fame)’s accounts.

She claimed she suffered substantial financial losses as the artistes under the company were no longer interested to renew their contracts as the frozen accounts indicated that it was facing problems.

On Nov 5 last year, Marina filed the second suit against Zizan, alleging that he had breached the contract between them and Wire Fame.

The plaintiff said on May 3, 2011, Zizan agreed to engage her as a personal assistant under a four-year contract that expires on May 2, 2015.

Marina said in her statement of claim that in May 2014, Astro disclosed that Zizan had come under its management on a contract worth RM2,000,000, without her and Wire Fame’s endorsement.

She said Zizan had breached the contract because his move to Astro was made before the expiry of the contract between them and Wire fame.

Meanwhile, Zizan told reporters when met, that he was ready to face trial and hoped his fans would pray for him.

“I had not done anything. I’ve been sued and am prepared for the trial; the case only involves company issues,” he said after the failed mediation before Justice Zainal L. Salleh at the mediation centre at the Kuala Lumpur Courthouse.

The plaintiff’s lawyer Harjit Sandhu told reporters that the mediation failed because both parties could not agree to the settlement terms.

He said the case would be heard before Justice Datuk John Louis O’Hara, and tomorrow had been set for case management at the Sessions Civil Court.

Marina is seeking special damages of RM535,500, general damages, interests, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court. -- Bernama
