Ringgit ends higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar today in tandem with most emerging Asian currencies due to the greenback's weakness.

At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2115/2145 from 3.2170/2200 on Thursday.

A dealer said higher ringgit was mainly driven by corporate demand and expectation of higher interest rate at Bank Negara Malaysia's next meeting in July.

Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mostly higher against other major currencies.

The ringgit appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5711/5737 from Thursday's 2.5748/5774.

It fell against the yen to 3.1662/1698 from 3.1610/1649 yesterday.

The local unit increased against the British pound to 5.4673/4733 from 5.4747/4808 and firmed against the euro to 4.3747/3794 from 4.3816/3863.-- Bernama
