Indonesian foreign minister arriving in Malaysia for working visit

KOTA KINABALU: Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi is arriving in Malaysia today to conduct a working visit prior to attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Foreign Ministers' Retreat here beginning Tuesday.

This was her first visit to the country after being appointed the post on October 27 last year.

"She will meet up with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman tomorrow in Kota Kinabalu.

"This visit will provide opportunity for both Foreign Ministers to discuss bilateral and regional issues of common interest and pave way towards improving the existing cooperation between two countries in various fields," said Wisma Putra in a statement.

Retno who is the Republic's first female foreign minister, had previously served as Indonesian ambassador to the Netherlands.
