Undesignated fishing spot, seven caught

MANJUNG: Seven foreign fishermen caught fishing at undesignated spots have been arrested by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) in two separate operations.

District Maritime Enforcement chief Capt Abdul Razak Johan said the foreigners were nabbed at the waters off Tanjung Hantu and Pulau Talang, here today and yesterday.

"The latest arrest was made at 8.40am today about 10km from Tanjung Hantu where three Thai nationals between 41 and 50 years were arrested," he said.

On Saturday, the agency also arrested four Thais men, between the ages of 33 and 54, at 12km off Pulau Talang at 6.40pm.

Initial investigations showed all fishermen had valid work permits and are based at Pantai Remis.

The boats had since been towed to Kampung Acheh jetty for further investigations.
