Asean senior foreign officials begin meeting

KOTA KINABALU: Senior foreign officials begin their meeting today to discuss issues related to Asean in the second day of Asean Foreign Ministers' Retreat at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, here.

The closed door meeting started at 9am chaired by Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Othman Hashim. The meeting is scheduled to end at 3.30pm.

It is attended by Asean secretariat Deputy Secretary-general Nyan Lynn and officials from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

Malaysia's theme for the Asean Chairmanship 2015 is 'Our People, Our Community, Our Vision', which derived from the overarching theme for the Asean Chairmanship 2015 "People-centred Asean."

Meanwhile, the 4th Asean Coordinating Council Working Group on Asean Community's Post-2015 Vision is expected to commence at 3.54pm behind closed door.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is also scheduled to make a courtesy call to all Asean Foreign Ministers at 8pm.

This will be followed by a welcome dinner hosted by Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.
