Trade Minister to provide updates on NAP 2014 tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Automotive Policy 2014 update is on the tap by the International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed tomorrow.

NAP 2014 focuses on Malaysia as a hub for energy efficient vehicle (EEV) which includes fuel-efficient vehicles, hybrid, electric vehicle and alternatively fuelled vehicles and the entire value chain.

The vision is to see 85 per cent of vehicles produced in Malaysia in 2020 as EEVs.

According to the Malaysian Automotive Institute CEO, Madani Sahari, two out of the three key prototypes will be ready by the third quarter for the production of EV in late 2016.

The prototype for the lithium ion battery will be ready by the end of March while the prototype for the E-bus would be ready by the third quarter Production of the EV car will start end of next year.
