Grandfather charged with unnatural sexual behaviour against his 2 underage granddaughters

BUTTERWORTH: A 50-year-old food outlet assistant pleaded not guilty today to four sex offences, including three counts of unnatural sexual behaviour against his two underage granddaughters.

The man, whose identity is withheld to protect his grandchildren, was charged with committing the offences on both victims, aged 7 and 8 years old, respectively, at No 149 Jalan Sama Gagah at Seberang Prai Tengah at night between Nov 24 last year and January 11 this year.

In the first count of the offence, the accused denied having sexual intecourse with the 7-year-old by inserting his finger into her private parts.

In the second count, he was charged with committing the same offence with the 8-year-old.

As for the last count, the accused was alleged to have inserted sodomised the 8-year-old's.

The food outlet assistant also claimed trial to another rape offence against the 7-year-old at the same place and during the same period.

He was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code with committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent and Section 376 of same code with rape.

The grandfather was arrested on Jan 24.

He was unrepresented while deputy public prosecutor S.Selvaranjini prosecuted before Sessions judges Julie Lack and Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi.

Lack presided the proceedings for the 8-year-old while Meor Sulaiman presided the same for the 7-year-old.

The accused asked for bail for his offences but both judges disallowed the requests upon objection from Selvaranjini.

Both judges fixed March 9 for mention while awaiting medical and chemist reports.
